Ajanta and Ellora caves india (Aurangabad)
Ajanta Caves in Maharashtra, India are 28 - 30 rock-cut cave monuments created during the first century BCE and 5th century AD, containing paintings and sculptures considered to be masterpieces of both Buddhist religious art and universal pictorial art.
The caves are located aroud 100Km from Aurangabad district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Since 1983, the Ajanta Caves have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The caves are traditionally numbered starting from the one closest to the village. It has total 31 caves in which two caves are incompleted, the caves has devided into temples and Vihar (Hostel), some caves have fine wall paintings shows the story of buddha period, some caves have stupa and domretory rooms for students who cames here from all over the world to study buddhism.
Ellora have buddhist, Hindu and Jaina Caves, all the caves are rock cut architecture, total 34 caves in which 1-12 Buddhist (1500 years old), 17 hindu caves(1200 Years old), 5 Jaina caves (800 years old),
